Melbourne International is located 14 miles (22 km) north of the city center. On its splendid Web site, you will find:
TAXI
Metered taxi fare to the center is about 30 Australian dollars ($20). Travel time is about 20 to 30 minutes.
BUS
Skybus operates a private bus service to the city center. The buses leave from outside the arrivals area every half hour from 6:30 A.M. to 8:30 P.M. They run to Spencer Street Rail Station and a few of the downtown hotels. The fare is $10 Australian dollars ($7), and the travel time is around 30 minutes. RENTAL CAR
Major rental car companies, including Avis, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty and National, are represented in Melbourne. There are some good local rental firms that may have the car you need for one-half the price of the major rental firms.
